I really like Santogold's voice and was very excited, after hearing the first demos, when news of an upcoming album reached me. Unfortunately, last year's self titled album was only mediocre at best. It felt a bit like eating fast food - there is something to it, but it is not in any way sustainably satisfying.  There was nothing really sticking with me after a week of having not listened to the album. It seemed like the album was maybe a bit rushed to take advantage of the hype surrounding Santi White at that time.However, it is undeniable that she as a great voice (I like it better than M.I.A.'s who she is constantly compared to) and has a great talent for writing catchy and "ear-wormy" (to all none Germans: this is a term we use in German describing a song you can't get out of your head) hooks. Santogold has since gone on to producing a song with Pharell and Julian Casablancas (Strokes) for a big sneaker company. I hope she is happy with what she is doing...The video is for a Switch and Sinden remix of the song "You'll find a way" off of the aforementioned album. The remix is probably over two years old itself and I remember being absolutely blown away when I heard it back then. It has lost none of its fresh- and edginess since then, though. I just came across it on youtube and wanted to share it with you - this is a beast!!! Do not bother listening to this thing without hooking your computer up to a proper stereo or some decent speakers. This is all about the bass...
