This film is a Space Age relic and a favorite among fans of 1950's Populuxe culture.
It was made on the cusp of two eras, when the ... all » jitters of the Cold War began to find a positive outlet in the Space Race. Architectural design and interior decor took on a 'futuristic' look with curves instead of corners, made possible by molded plastic resins, fiberglass, and flexible aluminum and stainless steel constructions.
Jam Handy produced this film for the Brunswick Corporation to promote their new bowling alley fixtures to the small businessmen. It was obviously a very successful promotion, because most bowling alleys look like this today.
What's refreshing is the film's viewpoint that this is a revolutionary new style, and a reflection of the new Space Age.
