EastEnders (BBC1, 7.30pm)However well intentioned, programmes about watching people sink into alcoholism can be as much fun as scooping out your own eyeballs with an old spoon. So EastEnders script scribblers better keep Whitney’s descent into the demon booze gripping and believable. Tonight the troubled teen is found slumped in a doorway clutching a bottle of vodka by Todd, who dashes off to get Ricky (below).Cutting Edge (Channel 4, 9.00pm)With the weather in Britain becoming almost interesting of late before reverting to its default miserable drizzle setting, I have decided to flag up a documentary that deals with one man’s obsession with meteorological extremes. Stuart Robinson of Leicestershire likes nothing better than to dash off at the first sniff of a tornado in the hope that he might put himself in the eye of the storm. He achieved this dubious pleasure when Hurricane Gustav hit America’s Gulf coast last year and this programme records his attempts to get inside the twister.
