The idea of an North American Union has nothing to do with Interstate highways. Nor does it concern Young Bush's alleged sense of rumor or with cable site CNN perceptions of "Comic.". The premise is that the Northern Commercial States have no common interest in the cultures or commerce of the South Eastern and Western Welfare States, they being defines as Western States which receive greater financial input from the federal government than they contribute. They are for example, Texas, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, Arkansas, Arizona, Oklahoma, Utah, Wyoming and Montana. For example, Illinois has more in common commercially and culturally with Eastern Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia, that with the SE&WWS. This has been dramatically demonstrated by the Illinois citizens voting records in the last 12 years, during which time not a single Illinois vote influenced the choice of candidates or election outcomes. A close examination reflects that a majority of American voters support commercial interests rather than rural, cultural programs. The thinking is that Jefferson was wrong; that the Noble Yeoman toiling close to the soil is more noble than the urban dweller. The thinking is that Abraham Lincoln was the worst, rather than the greatest president and unifier, with the exception of Young Bush and Millard Fillmore, given Lincoln obsession with preserving the Union and preventing the South from joining into a separate union with Mexico and Cuba. The Northern Commercial States have no interest in the philosophies and world view of Leo Strouss or Young Bush. Therefore, those who argue for a North American Union, feel that the American commercial states should be peacefully partitioned from the SE&WWS. Chuckle over that! Walwyn M.
