I was first diagnosed with MS in early 2001. Once I learned that I had the disease, I became very afraid of loosing my physical ability. I began doing everything I could to maintain the health of my body and even took up triathlons.
Several years later I was invited to participate in the Landmark Forum by a friend of mine. When I took the course, I had no expectation that it would help with MS. Nonetheless, I found the experience of the Landmark Forum to be very useful and valuable. I took a few other courses with Landmark Education and had a powerful insight: No matter what happens to my body through the disease, it does not inherently have anything to do with how I approached life.
From there, I began to see how my own attitude and the meaning that I added to having the disease had a real impact on the symptoms and me in my life. In fact, I have not had any MS attacks (exacerbations) or active symptoms since 2005 and the MS lesions (scars) in my brain have all shrunk.
