Chapter 27 is the Mark David Chapman movie that Jared Leto and Lindsay Lohan starred in that was released way way under the radar in only a few theatres in March and has gone now to pay cable. I was checking it out the other day as I landed on a scene with the two of them in Central Park. Because I love Central Park.Anyhow, Leto is unrecognizable in the role. Very unhealthy to be gaining all that weight, though, and really they just should have waited until a young actor of size (Jonah Hill?) had the chops and the zazz to get the project made before trying it. (Couldn't Jack Black have played Chapman?)And most of all why don't they just hire actors that (to paraphrase Janeane Garofalo) make the committment to keep the weight on 24/7, 7/52, 52/365, huh?No bias here, huh?Anyway, this reminds me of this very strange and very memorable thing that happened to me while I was in NYC this summer. I'm in the Friendly's in Baldwin (for a burger and a Fribble -- they don't have Friendly's in California) and I'm eating, drinking and reading the NY Times, and this guy comes up to me and points at my paper and says something to the affect of ...Don't bother reading that shit. They don't tell the truth in that piece of shit. The Times is just part of the machine, you know that the Chinese control all our media. Okay, I know what you're thinking, the Chinese? What about all that stuff about the Jews controlling the media? Anyway, he hands me this photocopied legal sized homemade flier which goes on to allege that Mark David Chapman didn't kill John Lennon, it was Stephen King.Stephen King?Yes! The novelist and Entertainment Weekly columnist Stephen King. This is when I start looking around for my friendly Friendly's waitress. It turns out that he had already let her in on the (alleged) fact that Stephen King killed Lennon, and I could tell because she didn't come alone, she brought one of the guys from the kitchen, which is when my little confab with crazy "horror thriller writer killed musical genius" guy ended. The on..
