Government - Downers Grove IL The Village of Downers Grove operates under a council-manager form of government. The Council consists of a Mayor and six Commissioners who are elected to four-year terms. The Council serves as the policy-making body for the Village. The Village Manager is appointed by the Council to be responsible for the overall administration of all Village departments.
Regular formal meetings of the Village of Council are held the first and third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm. Workshop meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month also at 6:30 pm. Residents are encouraged to attend these meetings which are held at Village Hall located at 801 Burlington Avenue.
Administrative offices, the departments of Planning and Community Development, Economic Development along with Building and Code Services are located at Village Hall. The Police Department is adjacent to Village Hall and the department of Public Works is located at 5101 Walnut. The Fire Department maintains five fire stations throughout the community.
