I don't like their definition of "Social Media" (but then, I don't like the term "Social Media".) But when it comes to explaining the democratization of media, media fragmentation, tagging, rating and commenting, this ice-cream based analogy works rather well!

You have to love CommonCraft. Although I'd have problems with this definition of "social media" (to be fair, I have more problems with the phrase than the definition.) Covering "consumer-generated media", media fragmentation, tagging, rating and commenting, this is a simple introduction.
