The Abbey of Saint-Benoît-du-Lac, founded in 1912, numbers a little more than fifty monks living under the Rule of Saint Benedict. Separated from the world, they seek God in the celebration of the liturgy of the Church, in private prayer nourished by meditation of the Bible and in manual as well as intellectual work. They form a community under the direction of an Abbot.
Currently their are 58 Monks. The Monks have no active apostolic outside of the Abbey.
Guests for silent retreat of all languages are most welcome.-
The Benedictine monk is a “cenobite”, that is, he lives with others. The monastery gathers a number of persons together since they share the same ideal and each one’s abilities are put at the service of all to assemble a community living according to the Gospel. Community life weaves among its members a family spirit. It also facilitates the discovery of self, the acceptance of others and the love of God. For the love of God and of neighbour are unseparable. The Holy Spirit labours in the monk’s heart to lead him to a still greater charity.
