Lately I've been seeing President Bush on the news stressing that he wants the band on off shore drilling lifted so that it may help with inflated oil/gas prices. I wasn't really sure how to digest this at first. I mean, I'm pissed off about gas prices so a part of me was saying "drill dammit, drill!", but then I thought about it. This is George W. Bush we're talking about....he's routinely made bad decisions.
I believe that offshore drilling isn't the best for the environment & could potentially not help spike the economy the way Bush may be proclaiming. It wouldn't be an immediate answer to the problem either (it would be years to feel the effect of offshore drilling). Alternative sources are the best answer; produce something safer than gas.....but will it be cheaper? That's the question, & when will it be available? There seems to be no immediate solution to the problem, which pisses me off even more. How could our government let us sink into this hole.
Off shore drilling would be the answer to big oil companies & rich lames in cahoots. This process entails that if given the permission to drill they get richer thus deepening our dependency on oil, polluting the surrounding waters (of Florida & California.....bye bye beaches).
On another note, how come there are Saudi Arabian princes in control of oil that we can't benefit from for a reasonable price (considering that Saudi Arabia is supposedly an American ally)? None of this makes sense. I mean, it's not like the average American cant see what's going on....it's not like ALL of us are dumb dumbs. Blatancy is a double edged sword folks, sometimes it's good to have & can be respected, other times......it's insulting & fucked up. What type of ally is that? That's like a "frienemy".
