Now I have been all oriented and conference out. The last two weeks have been good but I am definitely ready for a relaxing weekend off before I jump into more orientation, more new people to connect with, and more changes to adjust to next week. I am glad to have this time to pause and really absorb all that has gone on and be ready to go ‘full on’ when I get to Cambodia. I have gotten good input on language schools, housing options, shopping, and even gyms available from people this past week. I have also gotten numerous phone numbers of people encouraging me to ‘call if you need anything’ or just to meet up for lunch. It is so good to have so many co-workers who are so caring and friendly.
During the conference we also had session on various topics. One workshop I attended was on leading (and working in) multi-cultural teams. This is very applicable as I will be working with people from so many different countries. We were given the task to build a chair out of straws.
Then we talked about various aspects of multi-cultural teams. Here is one page of notes from our discussion.
I believe this was generated from the question “Why work in multi-cultural teams?” There were other similarly interesting sessions about a wide variety of topics as well as a lot of simple communicating to everyone sort of business.
Finally here are some pictures of things (mostly plants) around the hotel grounds. Enjoy!
