Modest Mouse - "Fire It Up", from their new release "We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank". I went with a straight performance video. I think everyone is a little tired of the story line music videos. I decided to go with a literal interpretation of the song's title instead of trying to interpret the lyrics with the video images. I think the fire and the sun provide a strong contrast to the performance and just looks cool with the music. And that's what it's really all about, good music and looking cool.
It might have a wee bit too much Isaac in it, but that's the price you pay for being the lead singer. The Johnny Marr shots are great, he just has a presence on the screen. Some of the subtlety of the performance and effects are lost in the flash compression, but oh well. The Music seems to be out of sync a bit, but it is not that way in the original. I don't think the record label would pick the video, you can barely see the band and I didn't use the headshot footage of Isaac, though I don't think that matters since they are not doing the judging...but for future reference you never know. I enjoyed editing the video, I hope you enjoy watching it as well.
