Why Joe Biden?   http://biden.senate.gov/ ilThe critism and debate over Obama’s foreign policy experience and the political weight ascribed to it, continues.  If taken plainly, one may reasonably conclude that the critique has considerable merit.  Yet, if one were to apply a modicum of thought to the standing critique, you quickly return to the Presidential contest of 2000.  Did George W. have substantive foreign policy experience while running for President of the United States (POTUS).  I think most people would agree that he did not.  George W. was far less engaged and knowledgeable of the international landscape in 1998 (despite being governor of a large border state and one of the world’s larger economies) than Obama is currently in 2008.  George W. was able to receive a crash course in foreign policy during the campaign in 2000.  This course was taught by his father’s political, cabinet, and bureaucratic chums - - Gen. Colin Powell, Richard Armitage, Dr. Condelezza Rice, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, James Baker III, Henry Kissinger, Prince Bandar of Saudi Arabia, to name a few. It is easy to be distracted and myopically focused on a candidate’s degree of “experience” regarding foreign policy.  However, experience (or the lack thereof), is not solely indicative of success, nor should it be used as the only litmus test.  History has proved over and over that sound decision making (or the lack thereof)  coupled with “experience” are important variables in the evaluative formula. .  .Truman - Hiroshima, JFK - Cuban Missile Crisis, LBJ - Gulf of Tonkin, Reagan - Iran Contra, Bush I - Desert Storm, Clinton - Kosovo, Bush II - Iraq. Senator Biden (Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee) can bring immediate gravitas to the Obama ticket.  Biden has been to Iraq eight times.  Biden is a legislative, and foreign affairs force that will serve the Obama administration well.  Moreo
