Now, let me know guys - am I a little late on this one?? If you’re lucky enough to be in Seattle this weekend, you probably already know that you’re in for a treat. This Friday and Saturday brings what looks like the Northwestern equivalent to the Sunset Junction, but with a cooler name: The Capitol Hill Block Party. Truthfully, I didn’t know anything about this until about 20 minutes ago when I finally decided to stop laying awake in bed and write something about the song I heard on Subterranean earlier this week. See, I find myself awake at 4am pretty often (which, if you’ve been reading the weapon for longer than a month or so, my posting habits would blatantly declare…). So listen up: THROW ME THE STATUE - and that isn’t a command. It’s the name of a Seattle based band who cleverly claim on their myspace profile that their tunes fall within the genre of “Concret/Jungle”- ha, ha. Good one. Truth be told, they are pretty terrific. Scott Reitherman, Aaron Goldman, Jarred Grimes, and Charlie Smith make music that’ll probably make you swoon so completely that you might actually believe you’re floating for a second. Dude that was gay. Whatever. The song “Lolita” reminds me of the Burberry cologne that my friend wears - wave it under my nose and then ask me to sign away my first born, or to wash your car or buy you dinner and I will probably say yes. So um, guys, don’t take your girlfriends to the Block Party on Sat July 26th at 7:45 pm or you might end up sleeping alone that night.
