The problem in the very beginning: plenty of us imagined we'd be where we are if not further 5,000 days ago. I remember arguing in 1996 for local governments to lay down a fibre infrastructure and lease it like power and water. Instead over a decade later most of us are still waiting for private companies like Verizon to do the job. The global machine is here, but until the obstacles like language are cleared away the gears won't run full steam.
A really great 20 minute summary of a lot of ideas that have been floating around for awhile. The basic thing that I get from it is that we’re all becoming part of one global machine and what really makes it powerful is us being open or transparent to it.
