Is This Guy Serious? Wasn't John McCain the one riding Bush's coattails and co-signing everything Bush said? Or is it just me?Here's the response by the Obama camp:"Senator McCain wants Americans to forget that during the Republican primary, he said that Americans were better off than we were eight years ago, and that he thinks we've made 'great progress economically.'"He wants us to forget that he's fully embraced the Bush policies he once opposed, and bragged about supporting those policies 'more than 90% of time.'The truth is, being a maverick isn't practicing the same kind of politics we have seen from Washington for decades, it isn't having a campaign run by Washington lobbyists, and it's certainly not promoting the same policies that have led America down the wrong path these past eight years." more about "New McCain ad: Washington's broken & ...", posted with vodpod

Mccain diz que o país está pior que há quatro anos atrás.
No, the title doesn't refer to McCain's logic. The ad is, however, a big slap in the face to George W Bush. McCain's new ad says:Washington’s broken. John McCain knows it. We’re worse off than we were four years ago. Only McCain has taken on big tobacco, drug companies, fought corruption in both parties. He’ll reform Wall Street, battle Big Oil, make America prosper again. He’s the original maverick.Think Progress.org offers the following fun bit of video in which McCain says Americans are better off than they were eight years ago. He says, "I think we're better off overall if you look at the entire eight year period." So doing the math, better than eight years ago, worse than four years ago... uh.... I guess it adds up to eight years of crap under President Bush. Which begs the question, if McCain thinks Washington is broken, and he's been part of Washington for decades, didn't he break it?Somewhere Tom Cruise is going, "I thought I was the original Maverick."

McCain ad accuses Washington of being plagued by special interest groups and touts McCain's record of taking them on. Counters criticisms that he's too close to Bush by promising to "reform Wall Street, battle Big Oil and make America prosper again." August 5, 2008
Blog: McCain -- seeking to keep his new parity with Obama in impact and buzz -- has placed an even bigger buy than Obama for Olympic television ads, Ad Ag
Minute-long ad plays up McCain’s reputation as someone who has been bucking the Washington establishment for decades.“He’s the original maverick. One is ready to lead — McCain.”Watch it above. Read script here. The campaign says the ad will air in “key states.”Spot breaks from a string of negative ads targeting Obama directly.
In this new ad, John McCain tries to achieve separation from George Bush by saying flat out that "we're worse off than we were four years ago." At the same time, McCain sidesteps direct criticism of the President and instead blames "Washington"..."Washington's broken -- John McCain knows it," the announcer says, in what sounds like push-back against Barack Obama's frequent depiction of McCain as a creature of Washington. According to the McCain campaign, the ad will run in "key states."The ad also tries to rekindle some of that old magic from 2000 by concluding that "he's the original maverick" -- another attempt to achieve separation from Bush by evoking distant memories of the pre-Bush-years McCain.
