Maybe this young woman didn't agree with Hillary's positions on a woman's right to choose, the war in Iraq, inequitable tax policies, health care and a half dozen other issues where Clinton and Obama essentially agree, but McCain doesn't. But if she did agree with Hillary's prospective policies, then it's not alright. Really.
Mark, You seem very dogmatiacally certain in your judgment of other people. But perhaps there are more options than your simplistic choice that this wonam must be an idiot or a shill. Maybe the correct answer is (c) she is not a radical partisan or a hard-shelled ideologue of the left or the right but, even as a Hillary supporter, she was just someone who votes for the person before the party and feels that it's important to be able to trust the independent judgment of the person we elect President of the United States. Though it might be comfortable for you to believe that everyone who disagrees with you is either stupid or evil, it really isn't so.
For many of us, we have been very consistent: we believe Barack Obama is just not ready to be president. SOme in that camp are Democrats, and committed Hillary supporters. It’s not just about being a woman. It’s about fairness and the integrity of the process. After all, we live in a Representative Republic. Our process, our Constitution separate us from any other country in the world. Or in history. No one should be surprised that many Hillary voters are starting to consider, endorse, and even campaign for John McCain. We want what is best for our nation. What is best for the American people. John McCain is the best qualified, with the best judgement. It’s time for us to reach across the aisle and support all Americans who support McCain. It’s the Right thing to do.—Media Lizzy
The McCain campaign is up with another ad designed to foment Democratic division on the eve of the Dem convention, a spot that features a "proud Hillary Clinton Democrat" who says she's voting for McCain:
With Hillary set to speak tomorrow night and Bill scheduled for Wednesday, the McCain team will work hard to push stories about tensions between the Clinton and Obama camps and will aggressively highlight polls suggesting that some embittered Hillary supporters still aren't getting behind Obama.
The script of the ad, which is running in "key states," is after the jump.
DEBRA BARTOSHEVICH: I'm a proud Hillary Clinton Democrat.
She had the experience and judgment to be President.
Now, in a first for me, I'm supporting a Republican, John McCain.
I respect his maverick and independent streak, and now he's the one with the experience and judgment.
A lot of Democrats will vote McCain. It's okay, really!
JOHN MCCAIN: I'm John McCain and I approved this message.
