For over a decade NFL fans have seen commercials featuring star players and their mothers enjoying Chunky Soup. This year will be different. The Campbell Soup company has decided to put their NFL moms campaign to rest. From The Wall Street Journal: For the past six years, the company has been running a well-received series of ads for its “Chunky” soup that feature National Football League greats and their mothers calling them inside for dinner and serving them soup. But starting with this NFL season, those moms will be riding the bench. The reason for the change? Campbell Soup says its new research has revealed that the company’s target consumers — men in their 30s — are finally achieving soup independence. Campbell Soup has been running commercials of NFL players with their mothers for 11 years with the last six years featuring the players’ real mothers instead of actors. It took them the same amount of time to realize that grown men don’t need their moms serving them soup. Campbell’s new ads will feature LaDainian Tomlinson of the San Diego Chargers in a series titled “Working Day”.
