Ladies and Gentleman, please return your seats to their upright positions. Sticky Fingaz, 1/4th of Onyx (for those that don’t remember, they’re responsible for this) apparently had this idea kicking around in his head where he hits up all the recognizable faces from the mid-90’s till now and puts them all in a Soprano’s style hip-hop movie. The kicker? Think ‘Trapped in the Closet’? Yes. They rap. Everything. But did you see everyone in that movie?!? First off, it doesn’t have just Mekhi Phifer. It has Mekhi Phifer AND Omar Epps. On top of that, Caine is in it, Fathead from Ray is in it, Samson Simpson (who to be fair has had a long career, but as soon as I saw him I thought “Abracadabra!”) and Big Worm are there. Matter of fact, go look at that cast on the imdb page, its nuts. I think I had a dream like that too once, except I was smoking some labrador with Cheech and Chong in the end. I’m going back to bed.
WOW @ this shit. Directed by Sticky Fingaz and featuring Mekhi Pfifer, Omar Epps, Bokeem Woodbine, Michael Rapaport, Faizon Love, Malinda Williams, Treach, Tyrin Turner, Drena De Niro (Robert De Niro’s daughter), Clarence Williams III, Ray J, Sticky Fingaz, Fredro Starr. While it might be considered a “movie musical or a hip-hop opera,” Sticky Fingaz describes it as “Godfather Meets Romeo & Juliet.” When asked why he decided against straight dialogue, he explains, “I’m an artist and I create music and at the same time, I’m an actor so it made sense to try something innovative and merge the two together. We’ll be doing the same with Onyx’s Black Rock album, merging hip-hop and rock. It’s a way of tapping into both sides of myself.”Woah.
