(CNN) – “Prominent Republican analysts Peggy Noonan and Mike Murphy became the latest victims of an open microphone Wednesday, caught after a segment on MSNBC trashing John McCain's pick of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate.Noonan, a Wall Street Journal columnist and former speechwriter for Ronald Reagan, and Murphy, a campaign strategist and onetime aide to John McCain, can both be heard expressing disbelief with the pick of Palin after they apparently thought they were in a commercial break.“I come out of the blue swing-state governor world, Engler, Whitman, Thompson, Mitt Romney,” Murphy said during the mishap which has since been posted on YouTube. Murphy later flatly says of the pick, "It's not going to work."…” Wow! This was not good. I read the story on CNN and it sounded bad but when you watch the video it was not good. It would be interesting to see what they said about Sarah Palin when they knew they were on the air. Here is the transcript from Talking Points Memo.

Sarah Palin gave her speech to the RNC tonight, a speech written for someone else, that was, it is generally agreed, snide in tone, disrespectful, and full of lies and distortions.  So of course the GOP’s religious right base ate it up like candy.The expectation was that she was going to play the victim (of the media) and go for the sympathy vote. But instead she went on the attack and, thank goodness, because now the Democrats can go after her with the same ferocity. Game on!But Sarah’s canned speech wasn’t the biggest shocker of the day. That goes to Peggy Noonan and Mike Murphy, GOP talking heads, who were unknowingly baring their souls on an open mic to Chuck Todd on on MSNBC. What made this oops moment particularly poignant, was that in today’s column in the Wall Street Journal, Noonan was being quite the apologist for Palin.And, thanks to new media — specifically the glory of YouTube — we have the exchange forever immortalized. Let’s just call this video “Busted” shall we? Remember it every time you see some partisan hack spinning for all they’re worth on tv.

Mike Murphy and Peggy Noonan caught on hot mike where Noonan discredits her own column about the Republican pick for V.P. saying, "The most qualified? No. I think they went for this — excuse me — political bullshit about narratives. Every time the Republicans do that, because that's not where they live and it's not what they're good at, they blow it."
