[/caption]John McCain Reiterated his rhetoric last night during his acceptance speech at the RNC in St. Paul last night. Throughout his hour long speech, (which was constantly interrupted by applause every 3 minutes) John McCain talked extensively about his love for his Country, his dedication to America, and of course, his being a POW during the Vietnam War. It's relatively obvious that McCain is ready to lead....He's ready to lead us to four more years of the same failed policies of the Bush Administration.McCain gave a lot of love to Bush last night, making Bush out to be some kind of hero. "I'm grateful to the President for leading us in those dark days following the worst attack on American soil in our history, and keeping us safe from another attack many thought was inevitable.." He forgot to mention that the attack was on Bush's watch, and Bush had advanced warning from a PDB (Presidential Daily Brief) titled quite specifically "Bin Laden Determined To Strike In US."[/caption]His executive ineptness led him to not even pay attention to this brief, subsequently allowing the worst attack in history on American Soil. I'm no conspiracy theorist, however, there are many independent groups that have very compelling arguments and theories about the President and his administration's role leading up to, and following 9/11. Could this tragedy have been perpetrated in part by our own Government? Before you dismiss these questions think about this; The Republican party has built their whole platform on FEAR. Vote Republican and we'll keep you safe! They want to kill you and your family for no reason! They will strike again if you vote with the Democrats! This type of fear mongering is the only way to stay in the White House. America is smarter than that. We understand that with McCain, yes we may be a little safer, but we also may have more conflicts because of the GOP's "Offense First" ideology. Since diplomacy is not in their vocabulary, WAR will be a constant, and fear will be constantly shoved down our th

I worked for three years in a newsroom after 9/11. I can tell you a hard and fast rule of thumb when it comes to video from 9/11. You can show the towers on fire, before they fall. You can show the rubble after the fall. You can not show the plane hitting the tower, the plane exploding into the tower, or the towers actually falling. Why? For some people the terror and the horror of that day are still real and still painful. If you were going to show the video, you had to have an explicit warning that what the person was about to see was painful. I guess the Republicans are tired of that rule. In a 9/11 "tribute" video aired tonight at the convention, and shown to millions of Americans watching television, they showed the tower exploding, the tower falling and the blood of Americans. They also showed the Iran hostage crisis, the bombing of the barracks in Beirut and several shots of random pissed off Muslims. Nowhere in there did I see anything amounting to a "tribute." Instead, what it consisted of was the type of scare tactics you would expect to see from a terrorist trying to recruit people to take on the United States. It gives me the heebie-jeebies to watch it. You can watch it, and you can watch the moving Olbermann response to the video which is the REAL tribute to the victims.WARNING - CONTAINS GRAPHIC IMAGES NOT SUITABLE FOR POLITICAL CONVENTIONS
