Moose A. Moose-The Saga Begins......
A few weeks back, Ya-Ya was telling me how much Peyton loves Moose A. Moose from the Nick, Jr. channel and wished that I could somehow make Peyton one.
Can you blame her??? This is super catchy! As a side note, Princess Paige liked "and Zee", or at least that is what she thought was the blue bird's name when she was slightly older than Peyton.
So off to Ravelry I went to see if I could find a pattern for a toy moose.
The only halfway decent free pattern I could find was the "Moose Toy Pattern" from Yana Knits. I wasn't too thrilled since I dabble in crochet but, generally, my "drug" of choice is knitting. I ended up buying Red Heart SuperSaver in Gold and Vanna's Choice in Honey for its machine washability for when Peyton drools on her Moose.
When I go home I immediately attempted to start the pattern..........and was completely confused.
I thought to myself, "There has to be a way to knit this pattern!"
So with the help of this wonderful website, I sat at my computer and began creating a knit pattern that I could follow to make the moose. First, I started with the head. I figured that since crochet stitches are taller than knit, I would insert a knit round between the increases/decreases. This is how it turned out.
I used my pepper mill to show scale and yes, I realize that I have also created what could be Mr. Peanut. Hmmm.... Now there's an idea! Heh, Heh.
Today, I'm going to take a ride to Joann's to get some white felt for the eyes and may just end up embroidering the pupil of the eye. Yes, I do have some mad embroidery skillz, yo.
ETA (4:38 P.M.): When I went to Joann Fabric today, I discovered the wonder that is the "child safety eyes". So I re-knit the head and used the safety eyes for both the pupil of the eyes and the nostr
