I've moved on the Mobile platform from IPTV service. So, I've been reasearching about the technology in Android.

I found that it's really interesting than I've thought. Most of all, when I saw Dalvik Virtual Machine, a register-based VM that seems to be put their heart in it, you know, I've so touched with their philosophy and technology.

It is very clear that we will soon android phone, pdp, netbook and any other mobile devices which was made by big brothers like LG, Samsung, Nokia, or maybe Erricson. So who will be the first or the winner? Let's run for android, Android 1.6 SDK is here!

As you already know, the allocated memory to an application is only 6MB ~ 7MB on SetTop Box. Moreover, we can not set initial heap size and maximum heap size of the application like desktop applications or server applications in Java. Therefore, we should be careful the loading on large images from remote server causes it to an "Out of Memory" exception.

See the following demo. For each image, the size is about 300KB ~ 500KB.



Wow, it's so incredible! How it works without an memory exception??? It works under VOD playing in video layer without any problems. And we don't need to limit the size of images from server side.
